Quran 30:30 
'' O (Muhammad), be devoted to the upright >>religion<< It is harmonious with the >nature< which God has >>designed for people<< The design of God cannot be altered. Thus is the >>upright religion<< but many people do not know. 

Quran 91:8  Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 
 
Quran 91:9  He has succeeded who purifies it,

7:172 And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this.

The above Ayat says all humans are born with the knowledge of the existence of God, and you have no excuse on the day of Judgement 
God refers to atheists as liars or Kafir. They knowingly denied the existence of God
